Good news now I can update the blogpage from my phone

Catching up: Fall Season in Review

We have been so busy this fall. Traveling to football games, volleyball games, and lately basketball tournaments. We have been having weekly dinner nights, with study sessions. We cook a different home cooked meal every week...and the kids that need the extra time or motivation to complete school work have the atmosphere to get it done!

Coach and I made a trip to college station to visit some of our kids that have moved on to the college life. We took the kids to Rosa's and then spent the night playing games.

Thanksgiving dinner was a full house. We had a mixture of foods and football on tv. Always a great time hanging with the kids during the holiday break.

We also had our Christmas Party last week to celebrate the holiday season. We fixed finger foods and got the kids alittle fun gift.

We will do our best to post regularly....now that Coach has a new laptop (thanks to Black Friday sales).....we can better stay on top of things :).

We want to wish everyone out there a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. ~Velas 2o10

CAMPING WE WILL GO!!!

We just arrived back home from a two day camping trip. We were able to fish, canoe, and swim. We also had a rope swing and water slide at our fingertips. We cooked hotdogs on the fire we built, and later roasted marshmellows to put in our smores...yummy. The boys set up the tints on our camping site and no less than 5 minutes into it....one of the boys was attacked by a family of yellow jackets nesting at our camp site. Coach took him for first aide and he was happy to get on with the trip. Needless to say....it was exciting from the start.
We posted a slideshow up above of our trip. I hope yall enjoy the photos.
**The Tyler Behrens Run is this upcoming weekend. If you haven't registered, it is not to late! All the funds go toward vision.youth. With funding and support from our community, we can do much more for these young teens.
***Also, our team, No Limit has its final tourney this coming weekend in Austin. We will play 3 games on Saturday and two on Sunday. Depending on how we finish, we will go straight into brackett play. We are hoping to take the teams by storm.

Team No Limit-Georgetown Tournament

Our team did a great job in the Georgetown tournament. We got off to a slow start during ealry pool play but really kicked it in once we got our gitters out and our feet wet. We wrapped up with third place overall. So proud of those boys!!
Thanks again to our supporters who helped make this trip possible. Yes the boys baked and worked to earn money for part of the trip....but it would not have been possible without the last minute support that we received from some local families. Our words will never be able to express how much it meant to us. So....THANK YOU!

Our team is sponsored by Fitch Estate Sales and vision.youth. They helped us to buy the good looking uniforms that you will see in the photos. We cant wait to wreck shop in the upcoming tournaments. Keeping checking back for more updates. We will be headed to compete in a Georgetown Tournament next weekend!

vision.youth basketball team

vision.youth now has a basketball team that has already started competing. We will be playing in local and distant competitions. This coming weekend we play at Tivy High School. We have been working this week to raise money for tourney costs, hotel fees, travel expenses and uniform costs. We spend four hours yesterday baking good to sell today. Today we set up at Hastings parking lot to sell a variety of cookies, brownies, rice crispy treats, and snow cones. We are well on our way to financially supporting the team....but donations are always appreciated. Above are some photos of the team baking yesterday and selling today.

Big Brother/Big Sister Bowl-a-thon

vision.youth brought a bowling team to participate in Big Brother/Big Sister Bowl-a-thon. We had a great time. We had around five kids represent us during the two hour time slot. Coach and I also bowled with the kids. They supplied sodas and pizza with a safari theme.

Celebrity Basketball with Melvin Adams

Melvin Adams was in KTown once again. We had a great time. He not only did a Celebrity Basketball Game at Tivy High School, but visited the local Elementary Schools to speak with the students about decisions and their future.
